Paz was born in San José, Costa Rica. She studied Film Studies and Modern Literature in Lyon, France. She directed her first short film En Espera, in 2009 and moved to Los Angeles in 2011 when she entered the directing program at AFI. She wrote and directed her first feature film Aquí y Ahora in 2019. The film had it's world premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and screened at Atlanta Film Festival and IFF Panamá. It will be released in theaters in Spain and Costa Rica.
