Rachel Carey is a writer and director based in New York City. Her first feature film as writer-director, ASK FOR JANE, premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2018 and received theatrical distribution from Level Film. It has played at over a dozen film festivals and theatrically in 10 cities including at New York's Village East Cinema and Los Angeles's Laemmle Music Hall. Other recent projects include writing and directing the one-hour tv pilot TAKERS, which played at several festivals in 2016 including Seriesfest, where it won an award for Best Actress in a Drama, and writing the webseries THE FEMALE GENIUS, which was a NY Times "what to stream" pick in 2020. Her 2013 novel Debt (Silver Birch Press) was optioned to be turned into a tv series for ABC by Calamity Jane, Ellen Pompeo's production company.
