Stephanie Hearn Purcell

With a background in journalism, Stephanie uses her skills of interviewing toward award winning documentary filmmaking. Her credits include work on two Emmy winning documentaries: “The Inaugural Ride to Freedom” (dir. Omowale Akintunde) and “Madagascar: Conservation vs. Survival”. Most recently she completed production on her own documentary, “To Love & Support: The American Military Spouse” which aired statewide on PBS and was an award winner in the categories of Feature and Producer at the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards. This past year Stephanie has worked as an associate producer on the BBC & Showtime documentary, “Whitney” alongside director Nick Broomfield and has been teaching at the New York Film Academy with director, producer and actor Bill Duke on the future of entertainment. Her previous experiences include the nationally released feature film “Wigger” as a 2nd, 2nd AD and several national television shows starting as a production assistant, including but not limited to: American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Home Makeover and ESPN sporting events. Stephanie is currently studying scripted comedy and episodic television in an effort to expand her directing skills.
