Alysa Nahmias is an award-winning director and producer of nonfiction and fiction films. Her documentary Unfinished Spaces won a 2012 Independent Spirit Award and numerous film festival prizes, was broadcast on PBS, and was selected for Sundance Film Forward. Her producing credits also include the 2017 Sundance Jury Award-winning Unrest (dir. Jennifer Brea, executive producer Deborah Hoffmann, ITVS - Independent Lens); Afternoon of a Faun: Tanaquil Le Clercq (dir. Nancy Buirski, creative advisor Martin Scorsese, 2013 New York Film Festival, Berlinale, PBS American Masters / Kino Lorber); Shield and Spear (dir. Petter Ringbom, 2014 Hot Docs, Sheffield Doc/Fest), and the fiction feature No Light and No Land Anywhere (dir. Amber Sealey, executive producer Miranda July, 2016 Jury Award winner, LA Film Festival). Her work has been shown at the Venice Biennale and MoMA. Nahmias holds a masters degree from Princeton University and a B.A. from New York University. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, graphic designer Rob Carmichael, and their two children.
