Emily Lobsenz is an award winning writer-director whose work spans fiction and documentary, interactive serials and branded entertainment. Emily’s films have played in over 100 festivals and broadcast TV across the globe. Her most recent films include SANDORKRAUT, a festival favorite and selected as a New York Times Op-doc; the multi-award-winning magical realist film, THE NEVER BELL created with hand-crafted puppets and mixed media animation; and her lyrical feature SONG OF THE BASQUES which explores the mysterious Basque culture. This autumn she was selected to direct NBC's Talent Showcase and nominated for their directors fellowship. She has also been a CPB Producers fellow, honored by support from ITVS, the Jerome Foundation and Fulbright as well as numerous international arts councils. She's presented work at Tribeca Film Institute’s Hackathons and won a sceenwriting residency with Tofte Lake. Emily's studies in Literature, Fine Arts and Music at Amherst College initially sparked her interest in Film. She went on to earn highest honors in her Masters at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and then began her career as a cinematographer and production-designer in Europe. Emily plays the cello, speaks Spanish, French and Basque, and is an elite triathlete and long-distance runner.
