Kate Cheeseman

Kate Cheeseman is an award winning director working in film and television fiction. She was awarded a BAFTA for the serial Pig Heart Boy and a Prix Danube Jury Prize for the television movie One Whole Heart which was also nominated for an RTS and an International Emmy. She has also won a further RTS award and been nominated for many other awards including the Broadcast Awards, Guardian Media Awards and a further RTS. Kate began her career in film editing and then established herself as a documentary director before moving into directing fiction. She now directs films and high end television drama. Most recently, Kate has completed directing a thirty-minute lyrical film about Caitlin Thomas wife of the poet Dylan Thomas. This is screening at festivals around the world and has so far been nominated for best short, best performance, best female director and best costume. Kate is also in post-production finishing an animated opera about the Futurists. Her short comedy horror film Roadkiller starring Phil Davies, screened last November at Aesthetica Film Festival where it was chosen as one of the top 5 thrillers to see and chosen by Double Negative as one of the highlights of the festival. Kate has been attached to direct a romantic comedy feature and is also developing a psychological thriller and a further comedy feature which she is also writing.
