After graduating from Johns Hopkins University, Lisa relocated to San Francisco and then Los Angeles to pursue her filmmaking career. She trained as a director with Lilyan Chauvan, Judith Weston, Mark Travis and Fred Johntz through the American Film Institute. Lisa worked as a script supervisor alongside brilliant directors and acting legends, Charleton Heston, Shirley Jones, Shelley Winters, Kyle Maclaughlan, and Christopher Lambert among many others. In 2000, Lisa wrote, directed and edited "Override" which screened internationally in over 40 festivals and was selected for the online site, “Frameline Voices.” In 2001, Lisa developed a pilot mentorship program to bring filmmaking skills to at-risk teenagers. She directed and edited a PSA, "Played Out," which became a model for similar projects. In 2001, Lisa won a highly competitive POWERUP DIRECTING GRANT. The grant provided Lisa with a professional crew and financing to direct a beautifully shot 35mm short film, “Chicken Night,” starring Ione Skye. Accomplished DGA director and friend, Jamie Babbit, mentored Lisa and continues to support and champion Lisa’s directing career. In 2002, Lisa co-wrote, co-directed and edited the award-winning feature documentary, “Radical Harmonies,” produced by Academy Award Nominee, Dee Mosbacher. Lisa has continued her successful film and television career, editing Shari Frilot’s critically acclaimed short film, “Strange & Charmed”.
