Marah Strauch

Marah Strauch is an award winning filmmaker and visual artist. Strauch’s debut feature Sunshine Superman is currently in worldwide release via Universal Pictures and Magnolia Pictures. Sunshine Superman is an exhilarating and poetic portrait of Carl Boenish, the Inventor of the sport of BASE jumping. It premiered and opened the Toronto Film Festival in 2014. Sunshine Superman went on to play NYFF, and over 10 other major festivals including the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and the Melbourne International Film Festival. Dubbed a “masterful debut”, and “one of the best docs of the year” by critics, it soon was picked up for theatrical distribution in North America by Magnolia Films (Universal had already acquired the International rights), and for television by CNN Films. Sunshine Superman won the Best New Director Award, and also the Audience Award at The Portland International Film Festival. Following its successful US theatrical run of over 65 cities in which it drew wide acclaim, Sunshine Superman is expected to reach an ever-expanding audience when it screens in early 2016 on CNN as a CNN film. Marah Strauch has appeared on Carson Daily, Pop Up Magazine and been interviewed by CBS News, The Guardian, and many more publications worldwide about her work. Strauch is a Film Independent Fellow, having been invited to participate in the prestigious Doc Lab and Fast Track in 2011.
