Producer/Director/Sound Recordist Marilyn Mulford has made numerous films about race, ethnic diversity, and art. She is currently working on “An Imagined Country” which should be finished in the winter of 2018. Her last completed film “Archeology Of Memory: Villa Grimaldi”, was finished in 2009 and aired on the ITVS series ‘Global Voices’. It won the audience award at the Mill Valley Film Festival, Special Jury Award in the Arts at the Mendocino Film Festival, nominated for an IDA music award, and was voted top-ten by audiences at the Vancouver International Film Festival. In 1994 she Produced/directed (with Connie Field) “Freedom On My Mind”, which was nominated for an Academy Award in the feature documentary category in 1995, awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, and the Distinguished Documentary Achievement International Documentary Association (IDA). It aired on the National PBS series ‘The American Experience”. From 1985-1989 she Produced (with Mario Barrera) and Directed the award-winning “Chicano Park”, a feature documentary that won a Gold Award at the Houston International Film Festival, a Gold Award at Chicago International Film Festival, and ‘Best of California’ at the National Educational Film Festival, and is on the Astlan Film Institute’s list of top 50-Chicano films. It aired on national PBS on the LBP series “Voces”.
