Mia Trachinger

Los Angeles native Mia Trachinger earned an MFA in Directing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Mia’s first feature BUNNY, a work of speculative fiction, was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (The John Cassavettes Award for best low budget feature, and the Someone To Watch Award for best up and coming director). BUNNY screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Maverick Spirit Award at Cinequest. Mia’s second feature REVERSION a sci-fi love story, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and later won the St. Louis International Film Festival Indie Express Award. Shortly after, Mia was selected to participate in Film Independent’s Screenwriter’s Lab with her psychological thriller screenplay, WHAT REMAINS. Turning again to science fiction, Mia wrote and directed the grounded sci-fi episode EXPOSURE for ITVS’ FUTURESTATES Television Series. She partnered with Justin Lin and directed the comedy short SAF SEEKING for his online production company. Continuing to direct comedy, Mia helmed the online series FEMALE MOMENTS for Two Funny Brains, a production company creating content for women by women, as the company launched into the world of branded content. Mia teaches film directing at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television.
