Susanne Suffredin is a filmmaker and editor whose career spans non-fiction, narrative and commercial genres with a keen emphasis on long form documentaries. A collaborator with Kartemquin Films, Suffredin was post-production supervisor of the ground-breaking film Hoop Dreams. Additional projects include 5 Girls, Higher Goals and work on several of Kartemquin’s seminal labor films, including The Last Pullman Car. Suffredin’s association with The Kindling Group includes her most recent directorial effort @home (2014 Booklist Magazine Editors Choice, Official Selection Eugene International Film Festival, Winner Best Documentary Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival, Official Selection Human Rights Film Festival at U.Va.) broadcast on PBS in 2015. Her prior work includes The Calling, which she co-produced and edited for PBS’s Independent Lens, A Doula Story, and Do No Harm also as co-producer and editor. She is currently working with Peter Gilbert and his producing partner Chris Webber on a feature length documentary about Webber’s life. She just finished editing Sommer Filmworks Count Me In for a fall 2016 PBS broadcast. She is currently full time faculty at DePaul University.
