DESCRIPTION:Film Fatales hosted a panel discussion about Directing Romantic Comedies with Emily Ting (Tall Girl 2)\, Lynn Chen (I Will Make You Mine)\, Nnegest Likké (Everything But A Man) and Sara Zandieh (A Simple Wedding). Moderated by Christine Luby (Royal Rendezvous). \nLove was in the air\, and so was movie magic!  On Valentine’s Day\, we dived into the world of rom-coms through the director’s lens. From landing the job to shaping the perfect director’s cut\, we broke down what it really takes to make a rom-com shine in a crowded market. We unpacked the secret sauce— story beats\, on-set chemistry\, and every trick in the book—to craft those swoon-worthy moments that stay with audiences forever. Revisit our deep dive into why our favorite rom-coms are timeless and how you can create the next classic!

SUMMARY:Wellness Workshop Members
DESCRIPTION:Film Fatales members impacted by the Los Angeles climate crisis were invited to an online wellness webinar with Dr. Annalise Ophelian from Reps on Set. Moderated by Film Fatales member Magdalena Albizu from NubianLatina Productions. \nWe’re in shock\, we’re overwhelmed\, we’re grieving\, we’re frightened. Whether you’ve been impacted directly\, are providing mutual aid\, or are witnessing from afar\, the Los Angeles fires have taken a huge toll on mental wellness. Joined by licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Annalise Ophelian they offered a series of guided somatic exercises to help you cope with stress and overwhelming emotions brought on by recent events. Together we gained an understanding into how our nervous systems react to emergency situations\, and practiced breath work\, body movement\, and other tools designed to help us calm and soothe ourselves during unstable times. \nWe invited those displaced by the Los Angeles fires to join us however they can – this presentation is offered over zoom and was accessible to those calling in to listen to audio only\, and a full transcript and recording is available following the workshop. While this guided somatic webinar has been developed for Film Fatales members in Los Angeles\, all are welcome to rewatch. \nAccessibility Notes: This online workshop will be accessible with auto captions and ASL upon request. The transcript and recording will be shared the day after the live event

SUMMARY:NYC Winter Party 2024 Members
DESCRIPTION:Film Fatales members gathered together for an in-person cocktail gathering in New York to ring out 2024 and prepare some good vibes as we head into 2025! During these turbulent times\, let us take comfort in community as we get together to bolster one another over drinks and good cheer. (Maybe even some karaoke?) \nThis in-person filmmaker mixer was for current members of Film Fatales and allies interested in supporting filmmakers of all marginalized genders. Have a Happy New Year!

As film award  season is underway\, this event will highlight members across our organizations who have the potential to be nominated and considered for awards. SUMMARY:Desperately Seeking Producer Members
DESCRIPTION:Film Fatales and Dear Producer joined forces to bring you an online panel and curated networking mixer for feature filmmakers of all marginalized genders. \nWe began with a discussion around the elusive question\, ‘How do I find a producer?’ with producers Lexi Tannenholtz (Booger\, Bad Things)\, Mars Verrone (Union)\, and Monique Walton (Sing Sing\, Bull). Heard from seasoned producers about how they find projects and what qualities they value in their collaborators. \nThis private online event was fully interactive session. Capacity was limited to 100 attendees. The panel portion was recorded and will be available for 48 hours after the live event. The breakout discussions were not recorded to create space for candid conversations. \nAccessibility Notes: This online webinar will be accessible with auto captions\, self descriptions\, and ASL upon request.
