Katherine Propper is an Austin-based filmmaker. Her latest short film BIRDS won the Grand Jury Prize at AFI '22, Special Jury Prizes at SXSW ‘22, and in the International Competition at Clermont-Ferrand ‘22. Her short film "Street Flame" screened at the Tribeca Film Festival ‘19 and won numerous awards, screening at festivals around the world. Born and raised in L.A., she holds an MFA in Film Directing from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BA in Art History from Georgetown University. Since moving to Texas, she has experimented with her creative process, drawing from non-fiction filmmaking and experiences such as working as an editor for director Terrence Malick. Her latest short "Birds" is currently streaming on The New Yorker and on Short of the Week.
