Lanie Zipoy

Lanie Zipoy is a Memphis-born, New York-based director and creative producer working in film and theater. Her feature film directorial debut, The Subject, stars Jason Biggs, Emmy Award nominee Aunjanue Ellis, Anabelle Acosta, Carra Patterson, Nile Bullock and Caleb Eberhardt. The film began its festival run in June 2020. The Subject won Best Film at the Lighthouse International Film Festival and The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, where it also took home awards for Outstanding Narrative Director and Outstanding Feature Performance (Aunjanue Ellis). Jason Biggs was honored with the Jury Prize for Best Performance from the San Antonio Film Festival. Other festivals include the Bentonville Film Festival, Breck Film, BronzeLens Film Festival, Catalina Film Festival, Harlem International Film Festival, Stony Brook Film Festival and more. Lanie has directed art videos for Theaterlab as well as commercials. Her short film 17 Things I Wish I Could Tell You Since You Died, a personal elegy for her brother who died of AIDS, screened at MINI Fest in March 2020.
