Monica Demes is an awarded Brazilian film director and screenwriter. She studied law and film in Rio de Janeiro and Madrid, where she lived for 11 years. In 2002, in New York, attending a filmmaking workshop at the New York Film Academy, Demes directed her first short film in 16 mm called “Rose”.     After working with the Mexican Director Luis Chapital, on a documentary called “LA Furia de un Pasado Prohibido” for the Mexican Television, Demes was hired by mobile phone company Genexies Mobile to direct comic sketches for mobile content producing on location in Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Spain. In Spain, Demes collaborated with artist Carmelo Calvo to direct her first animated and award winning short Halloween, which caught the attention of David Lynch.  Lynch  personally awarded Demes entry into the coveted David Lynch MA in Film at the University of MUM, Fairfield, Iowa in 2014. Lilith’s Awakening (2016) is Monica’s first Feature film. It was awarded in the US, Europe and Brazil and it’s available for streaming on Amazon Prime. Monica is currently in development of her second Feature film “MUSE” with Bananeira Filmes in Brazil and is searching for production in Spain for her third screenplay “Ritas”.
