Oglala Lakota/Diné film director and screenwriter Razelle Benally holds a BFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts and an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Film Production. In 2018 Benally directed a PSA promoting the Indigenous Vote featuring Mark Ruffalo, and in the following year received a grant by Academy Award winner Spike Lee to produce her short film Ókiya. In 2021 she joined the writer's room for AMC’s psychological thriller television series Dark Winds, co-penning episode three entitled “K’é. Most recently she directed two episodes of a Showtime documentary series called Murder in Big Horn which had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and is currently available to stream on Hulu, Paramount+, and Showtime.
