Sharmila is a director in documentary, music video and web series. She has worked as an assistant In television for ABC, NBC, HBO and Showtime. While gathering experience as an assistant on network television, Sharmila has created numerous passion projects. She has collaborated with other Independent filmmakers to support their visions. Devotee will be Sharmila’s first dramatic narrative short. In 2014, Sharmila completed the documentary, You Follow: A Search for One’s Past. This adoption reconnection story was well received by the adoptee community and gained attention at the La Femme and the India International festivals. Other accolades include Bunch Magazine’s 100 Creatives Issue. She was a featured director in The Reel Woman Instagram page and an active participant to ArcLight Cinema’s Women in Entertainment Workshops. In February 2019 she was featured in Voyage LA.
