SJ Main Muñoz is an award-winning Costa Rican-American filmmaker whose work is supported by competitive industry talent labs including FIND’s Project:Involve, NBC’s Female Forward, Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative, WeForShe’s DirectHer, NALIP’s Filmmaker labs, and others. She is a recent invitee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is a member of the DGA and the Television Academy. Her first episode of television, Wolf Films’ Chicago Med, earned the highest ratings for the show since season 1. SJ is a graduate of UCLA’s School of TFT, where she studied Acting and Directing and was the recipient of the James Bridges Award for Acting. She also completed an MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University of New York, where she graduated with Honors, and went on to acquire a PhD from EGS Switzerland, where she studied under directors Atom Egoyan and Claire Denis. As a second-generation Latina, SJ is dedicated to increasing Latino representation both behind and in front of the camera.
