Maria Burton, named by Variety as "talent to watch," is currently filming her fifth feature, For the Love of George, starring Tate Donovan, Rosanna Arquette, Rex Lee and Kristen Johnston. Her last movie, A Sort of Homecoming, starring Laura Marano (Austin & Ally), Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters), Parker Mack (Chasing Life), Michelle Clunie (Queer as Folk, Teen Wolf) and Kathleen Wilhoite, is being released May, 2016 by Mar Vista. She also recently completed the webseries, Old Guy, starring Peri Gilpin (Frasier). Director on the feature films, Just Friends, Temps, and Manna From Heaven, co-director on the doc, Sign My Snarling Movie; and producer on The Happiest Day of His Life and Julia Sweeney's Letting Go of God, Burton helms her production company, Five Sisters Productions, with her real-life siblings. Other directing work includes Stephen Kanner: A Retrospective, for the A+D Museum, "Act I" for the USA Pavilion, Shanghai World Expo, "Path to a Cure" for Massachusetts General Hospital and commercials for Ford Motor Co., and the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, featuring Julia Ormond. An Emeritus Board Member of Alliance of Women Directors, and Global Girl Media, Burton is developing the TV pilot, MidLife, and her next film, a drama inspired by the "Mercury 13," women tested for the original astronaut program in 1961. Her script has been selected for the inaugural Athena List, named to the BitchList/Bechdel List 2015 and the CineStory Fellowship 2015.
