Cindy Baer has helmed two critically acclaimed features and five shorts that have appeared collectively in over 80 film festivals, garnered 40 Festival Awards, and 8 year-end “Top Film” lists. She began her career at the Boston Children’s Theater as an actress at the age of 14, and appeared in over two dozen stage plays before she discovered her passion for filmmaking. Her directorial debut PURGATORY HOUSE was an afterlife fantasy entirely written by a 14-year-old at-risk girl Cindy mentored in the Big Sisters of Los Angeles Program. A critical darling, it won 12 festival awards, 2 Prism Award Nominations, and was included on several critics’ lists for “Best Films of the Year” before receiving distribution by Image Entertainment. Cindy’s second feature ODD BRODSKY (a quirky comedy about chasing your dreams) crisscrossed the country screening at 30 festivals and winning 20 festival awards. Cindy has also directed a 32-min. children’s pilot/ 12-part web series, two music videos, and a behind-the-scenes featurettes. She appears on filmmaking panels across the country, speaking about low-budget filmmaking. Cindy is a member of Film Fatales, AWD and SAG-AFTRA. She lives in Los Angeles with her cinematographer husband Matthew Irving.
