Gayatri Bajpai

Gayatri Everitt Bajpai is a director with roots in New Delhi and Vancouver, currently based in Los Angeles. She holds an MFA in Film Production from UCLA, where she earned two Directors’ Spotlight Awards for her short films and produced a documentary on Francis Ford Coppola’s “Live Cinema”.

Her short Halwa, co-directed with Nirav Bhakta, won HBO’s APA Visionaries Competition in 2019, was licensed by HBO and Disney+, and screened at festivals around the world. She was a top 8 finalist at the 2021 Vancouver Asian Film Festival's MAMM for her short The Call, and her 2022 music video Innocent for Swim Team was featured in Exclaim! and on Cups’n’Cakes Network.

In 2023, she completed the fantasy short Yatra: The Journey, winning Best Director at the Mumbai Indian Cine Film Festival. Her feature documentary in development received a Canada Council grant in 2024. She directed Designed by Preeti, a narrative feature written and produced by Rashmi Rustagi, which screened at Dances with Films, LA, and won the Gold Remi Award for Best First Feature at WorldFest Houston, Best Feature Narrative Award at Red Cedar Film Festival, and a nomination for Best Director of a Feature Film at NoHo Cine Film Festival.

Most recently, she won the Tasveer Film Fund award for her project Wellness, which goes to camera in 2026.

Gayatri’s work explores identity, transition, and belonging through a multiethnic lens.
