Kristen Nutile is an award winning independent filmmaker and editor based in New York City. Kristen’s own work is primarily non-fiction, often intersecting with experimental. She has directed eleven films, which have shown all over the world including festivals such as the Sundance Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival. Her work has screened at the Walker Art Center, MOMA and The National Gallery of Art. Her latest work, a collaboration with JP Olsen, is a short film about art-provocateur Tav Falco. It is currently screening in film festivals, including the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Marfa Film Festival and Indie Memphis. In 2007, Kristen collaborated with legendary filmmaker, Albert Maysles and producer Tanja Meding on Sally Gross - The Pleasure of Stillness. The film premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival and had it’s US premier at the Full Frame Festival, and was broadcast on PBS. It recently screened at the Film Forum in New York City. Kristen has received two grants from the Jerome Foundation, as well as a grant from NYSCA. She was a recipient of the Albert Maysles Award for Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking. Kristen holds Master’s degrees in both Documentary Film and Video from Stanford University and Biology from San Francisco State University and she teaches at New York Film Academy.
