Kyle Sosa Frederick is a writer, director, and producer creating compelling, female-driven narratives. The daughter of a career Marine Officer and hailing from a family of strong Latina women, Kyle grew up as a perpetual outsider observing the complicated social dynamics in her varied surroundings. An unabashed lover of art house films and emo pop culture, she seeks to capture the ephemeral nature of love, longing, and ambition in her psychological, atmospheric dramas and dramedies. Her debut thriller feature AMONG MOUNTAIN CRAGS—a sponsored project of The Gotham that she directed and co-wrote—premiered at the Montana Film Festival and was nominated for Best Narrative Feature at the Charlotte Film Festival before its distribution with Indie Rights on multiple streaming platforms. She has also made numerous short films. Prior to making her own work, Kyle honed her talents assisting with the development and production of projects at Indian Paintbrush, Focus Features, Bona Fide, and Scott Free Productions. Kyle is a member of the Latinx Directors community, a 2022 WIF Multi-Hyphenate Mentee, and a winner of Roadmap Writers’ Diversity Initiative. She graduated from Williams College with a degree in Art History, where she also won a prestigious fellowship for her work in modern dance and choreography. Kyle earned her MFA in Film & Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She currently resides in Northern Virginia.
