Film Fatales members were invited to an in-person gathering in Manhattan! We engaged in a dynamic conversation about the film industry and our current projects, with the goal of fostering community among our New York City members.

We shared snacks and drinks with potential collaborators and like-minded artists during a guided conversation co-hosted by Liz Nord and Heather Spilkin.Hosts provided charcuterie boards.

This in-person filmmaker mixer was for current Film Fatales members only.

Co-Hosts

Liz Nord is an Emmy-winning multi-platform producer, writer, documentarian and content strategist who has created and shown work across the globe. She is currently Head of Programs and Creative Development at the NYU Production Lab, where she runs the Feature Film Development Studio and creates opportunities and events to help launch the artistic careers of emerging creatives coming out of NYU’s prestigious programs.

Previously, Liz was Director of Content at Sundance, where she was instrumental in growing Sundance Collab into the premiere global destination of filmmakers looking to hone their crafts. In the role, she developed hundreds of hours of content featuring top-tier industry talent in videos, digital courses, and live events. She also created and edited Sundance’s The Muse, a biweekly journal for Screenwriters and Storytellers.​Liz served as the Editor-in-Chief and Lead Producer at No Film School, where she oversaw all content and daily operations of the world’s largest online filmmaking publication, as well as created and co-hosted the popular and highly rated Indie Indie Film Weekly podcast.

Heather Spilkin is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and TV producer/editor. Her films have screened at festivals across the country, including Rooftop Films, Citizen Jane, Anthology Film Archives, Big Apple Film Festival, and LaFemme. Heather’s TV editing and producing credits include programming for ABC, Food Network, Bravo, History, A&E, Lifetime, Travel, and TLC. Her comedy writing/directing credits include the commercial parody Just End It!, episode two of the Lountess web series, and Breaking and Entering, which won Best Web Series at World Web Fest Mania, Best Web Series Episode at Portland Comedy Film Fest, Best Short at Glass Ceiling Breakers Film Fest, and Best Director at the NYWIFT Shorts Festival. She also produced and directed the feature documentary Above Brooklyn, which premiered to a sold-out crowd at the Rooftop Films Series. Heather is a writer/performer in Magnet Theater’s Moxie sketch lab and writer for the Magnet Theater’s house sketch team Party Trick.
