Synopsis

In a future, where we have destroyed our oceans due to careless human behavior, three astronauts are sent on a private mission to attain a water sample from Jupiter's moon Europa, to prove if the moon is suitable to sustain life back on Earth.

The sole oceanographer on the mission, Yvette, has a strong connection to the ocean from childhood. And from the moment Yvette lands, she continuously hears her name: but not from her fellow astronauts. A presence larger than her is trying to communicate with her. As they plant their flag in Europa's soil, it is clear that the moon intrinsically does not trust man’s presence.

As they navigate to the drilling site and find old NASA machinery, that they hack into, they begin to drilling into the surface of the moon, as it screams. But the moon, opens itself to her, forming a path to somewhere no human has been before.

She wakes up surrounded by Europa’s vast ocean, and is given the ultimate test of humanity.

Press

"Europa not only offers a gorgeous moonscape, but it also gives film students the tools to create an epic as impressive as Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Story is everything, and Jacqueline Elyse Rosenthal makes the most of this cutting-edge technology to create a big-studio epic."
