Synopsis

Satisfaction is a nuanced psychological drama that lingers in the unsaid, as a fragile bond between British composers and lovers, Lola (Laird) and Philip (Whitehead), unravels. Shifting between their present-day stay on a remote Greek island and the early electric days of their romance in London, the film slowly reveals an unspoken rift. When Lola meets the magnetic Elena (Amir) on a nudist beach and invites her into their world, tensions escalate, forcing Lola to confront the darkest part of her past. Forced to face her denial, Lola has to learn to reclaim her voice.

Through its layered, intimate storytelling, Satisfaction explores the complexities of relationships, the sacrifices we make, and the ways denial shapes our identities. It’s a poignant examination of the profound struggle of artists losing their voice—ultimately urging us to embrace the full complexity of our own stories.

"Set against the stunning ancient beauty of the Greek Isles, Satisfaction offers a uniquely female and sapphic take on the same raw queer emotion and regional charm that won over Call Me by Your Name audiences."
Glenn Garner for Deadline
"It's a supremely honest film, a visually orgasmic one, a modern masterpiece that feels like Antonioni by way of Akerman"
Matt Mahler for Movieweb
"Satisfaction is a bold, beautifully crafted film that refuses to shy away from discomfort. Through its direction, and a breakout performance by Emma Laird, it tells a story of power, silence, and the long road to self-reclamation"
