Synopsis
True-crime obsessed teen loner Mel has serious investigative talent that she hones with her increasingly popular secret underground zine. When her crush, Angie is shockingly murdered, Mel suddenly has a massive true crime mystery in her own small town. She embarks on a deep investigation of the crime scene, sleuthing around under the guise of her paper-girl route. Soon enough, Mel finds herself in hot water sneaking around the crime scene: the cops start to think she may be a potential suspect. As if that’s not enough, Mel gets caught up in a slow-burn bisexual awakening with the local up- to-no-good gang led by eccentric and charismatic Trisha... who is also the main murder suspect. During the course of the film, Mel solves the case and on the way confronts her greatest fears and desires - to shed her wallflower status, to get close to Trisha by any means necessary, and ultimately to be seen for who she really is.
