Years after a life-changing road trip, a chance run-in with her ex-boyfriend’s best friend forces a woman to confront the love she buried, the future she’s planned, and the one choice that still haunts her.
Years after a life-changing road trip, a chance run-in with her ex-boyfriend’s best friend forces a woman to confront the love she buried, the future she’s planned, and the one choice that still haunts her.
Bonnie thought she’d buried the past - along with the heartbreak of a road trip that changed everything. Engaged to a stable partner and building a quiet life near the beach, she’s done her best to forget the whirlwind week she spent years ago with Ashton, her ex-boyfriend’s best friend - the one person who truly saw her during the most vulnerable moment of her life.
But when Bonnie unexpectedly crosses paths with Ashton again, old sparks - and old wounds - flare. Ashton, now successful but emotionally unmoored, is stunned to learn how much that trip meant to her. Determined not to miss his second chance, he pursues her with awkward charm, emotional honesty, and the messy timing of someone trying to rewrite history in real time.
As Bonnie navigates the tug-of-war between her current relationship and the lingering connection she can’t shake, she’s forced to ask herself what she really wants and whether love that almost was might be the love that still could be.
Told with warmth, wit, and moments of aching vulnerability, The Almost Girl is a story about the ghosts of almost-love, the people who shape us, and the courage it takes to let go of what’s comfortable for the possibility of something extraordinary.
