Synopsis
When United Airlines destroyed Engracia Figueroa’s custom $30,000 wheelchair and refused accountability, it set off a devastating chain of events that ultimately led to her death and a nationwide call for justice. THE UNTITLED ENGRACIA FIGUEROA project is a feature documentary that reclaims Engracia’s story beyond the headlines, revealing the vibrant, sharp-witted Afro-Latina disability rights activist who fought tirelessly for access, independence, and dignity. Through intimate interviews with family, friends, and advocates, and through Engracia’s own words, the film revisits her final fight to move freely and exposes systemic failures that make travel dangerous for disabled people. Ultimately, it transforms tragedy into a movement for accountability, access, and lasting change.
