Donna Bonilla Wheeler is an Indigenous Peruvian and Irish filmmaker and theatre director, known for her imaginative family mockumentary, DEATH OF A SALESWOMAN, which sold at Cannes, Berlinale, and AFM markets, and streams globally. She writes+directs stories of underdog, non-mainstream characters, fighting oppressive cultural norms, who possess extraordinary powers, talents, humanity, or insight
Donna is one of only 12 Finalists invited to the 2020 MIPTV/Cannes In Development Series Competition, with her 6x60' Latine adventure show, CLASH. Recent works also include projects selected via scholarships at Stowe Story Labs, Sidewalk Narrative Labs, and multiple Sundance Workshops. Donna’s music-driven feature script, THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, was a Nicholl Semifinalist and the subject of a bidding war at Cannes.
She is a classically trained violinist, and also writes and directs commercial campaigns for global clients, including Westfield Malls, Neutrogena, Proactiv, ColourPop, Kylie Cosmetics, and TimeWarner.
