Kayla Johnson's directorial debut was a short documentary called I Am Jalaiah which was selected for the 2022 Atlanta Film Festival and Downtown LA Film Festival. The first feature documentary she directed, Fenom, was an official selection of the 2022 Urbanworld, British Urban Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and SCAD Savannah Film Festival. Prior to directing, she served as a producer at ESPN for live events like college football, college basketball, and the Emmy Award-nominated Monday Night Football. She is currently in development on a couple projects that are projected to release later in 2023.
