A passionate filmmaker with a Law degree, Lorena's HBO documentary It Will Be Chaos on the European refugee crisis won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Current Affairs in 2019, Best Directing Award at the Taormina FilmFestival, and a Humanitarian Award in NY. Translated into over 10 languages, the documentary has been distributed worldwide.
Lorena's previous film COAL RUSH captures a rural Appalachian community’s battle against a coal company accused of dumping toxic waste into their water supply, winning Best Documentary at the San Marino FilmFestival, Best Audience Award in Milan, Best Environment Award at Cinema Verde, FLA., and Amy Goodman's best Social Justice Award in NY. The film was distributed by Starz and is available on Amazon Prime, Hulu, and other platforms. Her previous films (Dario Fo and Franca Rame: A Noble for two; Urbanscapes) were respectively screened at the Venice Film Festival and distributed theatrically.
