Makalla is an established music video director for young urban artists including Lisa Maffia, Wretch 32, Caliber, Oranje2000, Mumzy Stranger, Junai Kaden, Riskgo, and Kay Young. She has directed three short films, two blocks of BBC 1 Drama Doctors, ‘Hetty Feather meets The Dumping Ground’ and Hetty Feather’s Secret Scene ‘Blanche’s Promise. Her first film “Tight Rope” was selected for the AAWIC Film festival in New York, 'Takes' film festival in Australia, Portobello film festival and Hull film festival. My second short “Tiny Steps” was been selected for Portobello film festival, Tirana international film festival and also was broadcast on The Community Channel. She was selected for the Creative Diversity Network mentor scheme in 2012 and was partnered with Drama executive producer Sarah Brown from the BBC for 12 months. She was accepted onto The London film school filmmaking course in 2014 and was one of seven people given a £50,000 grant from skillset. She is developing a four-part drama with playwright Paula B Stanic recently highlighted on BBC new talent hotlist, being produced by John White 3 times Bafta winner for BBC drama Youngers. She recently finished writing a play which is being produced by The Oval first bites program. Black british actor Roger Griffiths is playing the lead role.
