Nicole Groton graduated with honors from the prestigious Florida State University’s Film School where her studies focused on writing and directing.

In 2015, she produced, directed, and edited the feature documentary THE MELTING FAMILY. The film made its world premiere at DOC NYC, America's largest documentary film festival. In 2020, Groton released the feature film DARKNESS IN TENEMENT 45, a psychological thriller that she wrote, directed, and produced. The film screened at Big Apple Film Festival (Best Feature Film winner), HorrOrigins (Best Feature Film and Director winner), Horrible Imaginings Film Festival (Best Actress and Screenplay runner-up), Sarasota Film Festival, Capital City Film Festival, Heartland Film Festival, and Terror Molins Film Festival. The film is currently available across VOD platforms. Additionally, she has written and directed two short films.

Groton was a semifinalist at the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowships, Creative World Awards and a Second Rounder at Austin Film Festival’s script competition as well as a quarterfinalist at the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, HollyShorts, Storypros Screenplay Contest, the Script Pipeline Screenwriting Contest, and the Cynosure Screenwriting Awards. She was featured on Coverfly’s Red List and had the top 1% of screenplays on the platform.
