Sunnie McFadden-Curtis, is a multi-award winning black female independent filmmaker, director, producer, actor, educator, advocate and above all a mum.

Best Director Documentary Feature-SBFF, Audience Award Best Documentary-CCFF, Best Sound Design Feature-MDRFF, Award of Recognition-IMPACT DOCS AWARDS, Honorable Mention-Mediterranean Film Festival Cannes, Honourable Mention-Toronto International Women Film Festival.

Thus far she has chosen subject matter that focus on societal issues to help educate the most vulnerable. As well those caught in the crossfire.

Before Sunnie became a filmmaker, she was an actor, including, Soap Oper Family Passions. In 2005, Sunnie took a leap of faith & started a production company, benchboy productions inc., & has been working as an independent filmmaker off-and-on for fifteen years.

While raising her three children, Sunnie kicked off her filmmaking career by producing a feature-length documentary, Bullying: A Culture of Silence, followed by Cyber Bullying: Where Are We Going Wrong?. She also made a short non-fiction: “Shane r u there?” Recently, she completed a feature length documentary, BROKEN VOWS: Stories of Separation.
