Victoria Lean is an award-winning documentary director, television producer and creative industries consultant. Her first feature, After the Last River, was nominated for a 2017 Canadian Screen Award. It screened in dozens of festivals across Canada and has won 5 festival awards, including Best Canadian Feature at Planet in Focus, where it is also opened the festival. It was featured on the cover of the 100th Issue of POV magazine and had its broadcast premiere on the CBC's documentary channel for Canada Day. Currently, she produces the documentary-style comedy, Nirvanna the Band the Show, which the National Post recently called "the best Canadian TV show in the last two decades." It premiered at TIFF in 2016 and airs on VICELAND and CityTV. While in production on season 3, she is developing a slate of hybrid and documentary films and series. Beyond her own filmmaking work, Vicki is committed to assisting in the growth of indigenous creative industries. As a senior consultant with Nordicity, she has worked on several engagements for governments and agencies with a focus in Northern Canada, including conducting strategic planning for the screen-based media in the Northwest Territories and the visual arts sectors in Nunavut. She holds both an MFA in Film Production and MBA in Arts and Media Management from York University.
