April Wright is a writer/director who loves genre and dark character material, especially stories rooted in history or real events that involve elements of politics, conspiracy, technology, sci-fi, government or exploring the dark side of human nature. April recently set up a project with Lionsgate and directed branded network tags for the El Rey Network. “My BFF” a creepy doll short, recently received worldwide distribution as part of a horror anthology. April’s currently in development to direct her script "Huckman's Heart" which has support from the Sundance Institute / Women in Film Financing Initiative in 2015. Her first feature “Layover” premiered at Cinequest in 2009. April’s feature documentary “Going Attractions: The Definitive Story of the American Drive-in Movie” enjoyed a theatrical run in at drive-ins and arthouse theaters and was featured in the Jennifer Aniston movie “Cake.” A highlight of making the film was interviewing indie film legend Roger Corman. She’s currently in post production on the follow-up doc feature about Movie Palaces, expected to be released theatrically in 2017. April has an MBA from Northwestern University and has programmed for Sundance and AFI Fest.
