Film Fatales
Carly Usdin

Carly Usdin got her start in the visual arts as a kid growing up in New Jersey when, instead of writing papers, she’d turn in poorly-made videos for school assignments. After 5 years at Viacom in NYC, Carly relocated to sunny Los Angeles in 2012 with her wife Robin and their miniature schnauzer Arthur. Together they formed Scheme Machine Studios, a creative production company. Carly's freelance clients include Funny or Die, Vice, CollegeHumor, Amy Poehler's Smart Girls, NewForm Digital, World of Wonder, Viacom, Fullscreen, Studio71 (formerly Collective Digital Studios), Portal A, Astronauts Wanted and Magical Elves. She spent most of 2014 producing YouTube Nation (the official daily show of YouTube), a joint venture from Google and DreamWorks Animation. In 2015 she and her best friend/co-producer Cesar Hawas began a live event series with the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles called Le Bal. Carly is a proud member of the Los Angeles chapter of Film Fatales, and her first feature, a no-budget indie called Suicide Kale, will premiere this year. Carly is a huge nerd, French fry connoisseur, and wannabe close-up magician. She hates snakes and is making an effort to read more books this year.
